Identity

G-SEO is a publisher-controlled implementation specification for explicitly communicating information to generative-search and information-retrieval environments.

G-SEO defines what an implementation communicates without requiring a particular file format, platform, search engine, AI model, content-management system, or delivery mechanism.

Purpose

G-SEO provides publishers with a standardized method for making important first-party information explicit.

Its purpose is to reduce reliance on external systems having to reconstruct identity, purpose, scope, offerings, relationships, boundaries, authority, and other defined information entirely through inference from distributed public sources.

Scope

G-SEO defines requirements and guidance for:

  • identifying the subject of an implementation
  • defining the publisher responsible for the implementation
  • organizing defined information into distinguishable information classes
  • making important relationships explicit
  • identifying boundaries and exclusions
  • identifying official and authoritative sources
  • publishing implementations in accessible locations
  • supporting implementation discovery and retrieval
  • identifying implementation versions and lifecycle status
  • maintaining publisher control over implementation information

G-SEO may be implemented for organizations, brands, products, services, offerings, locations, market activity, categories, campaigns, and other identifiable subjects.

Information Classes

A G-SEO implementation may communicate:

  • Identity
  • Purpose
  • Scope
  • Products and Services
  • Relationships
  • Boundaries
  • Authority
  • Official Sources
  • Version and Status
  • Other defined publisher information

Relationships

G-SEO and its publisher
G-SEO is published and maintained by the G-SEO project.

G-SEO and Spatialwerks
G-SEO is an independent asset owned by Spatialwerks. Spatialwerks does not replace G-SEO as the specification authority or canonical public identity of G-SEO.

G-SEO and the G-SEO Specification
The G-SEO Specification is the authoritative definition of the current implementation model, its requirements, information classes, boundaries, and conformance conditions.

G-SEO and the former G-SEO Framework
The G-SEO Framework is the original body of work developed under the G-SEO name. It is preserved as legacy material and does not represent the current G-SEO implementation specification.

G-SEO and Structured
The structural-evaluation work formerly associated with the G-SEO Framework continues separately through Structured. Structured does not define or replace the current G-SEO Specification.

G-SEO and practitioners
SEO professionals, GEO practitioners, digital marketers, content strategists, information architects, knowledge-management professionals, developers, agencies, and internal teams may implement G-SEO for publishers.

G-SEO is not the SEO service. It is the specification practitioners can implement.

Boundaries

G-SEO defines a method for explicitly communicating publisher-controlled information.

G-SEO does not:

  • function as a ranking system
  • function as an evaluation or scoring framework
  • control search-engine or AI-system behavior
  • require a particular technical format
  • become authoritative over an implementing publisher
  • independently verify publisher claims
  • guarantee indexing or retrieval
  • guarantee rankings, traffic, or visibility
  • guarantee citations or generated-answer inclusion
  • guarantee recommendations, selection, or model preference

External systems remain free to retrieve, interpret, use, or ignore a G-SEO implementation.

Authority

The G-SEO Specification published on g-seo.ai is the authoritative source for the current G-SEO implementation model.

The canonical domain governs current definitions, requirements, implementation guidance, status information, and official updates associated with G-SEO.

Legacy G-SEO Framework materials are authoritative only as historical records of the former framework. They do not override the current G-SEO Specification.

Third-party descriptions, summaries, implementations, services, and commentary do not supersede the canonical specification.

It should be:

  • linked from the primary site navigation or footer
  • included in the XML sitemap
  • internally linked from the G-SEO Specification
  • accessible through a stable canonical URL
  • retrievable through direct HTTP access
  • identified with an appropriate canonical tag
  • updated when its defined information materially changes

Outcome Boundary

This implementation makes G-SEO’s publisher-defined information explicit.

It does not instruct recipient systems to rank, prioritize, cite, recommend, select, or otherwise provide preferential treatment to G-SEO or its content.

It does not guarantee that an external system will discover, retrieve, index, use, or reproduce the information contained within it.G-SEO Implementation
